Question:
The imam recited verse 72 and 73 of sūrah Aḥzab in ṣalāh. He recited the 73th verse and did waqf on وَٱلمُشرِكِینَ, then he recited وَٱلمُشرِكِینَ وَٱلمُشرِكَـٰتِ وَیَتُوبَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَى ٱلمُؤمِنِینَ وَٱلمُؤمِنَـٰتِ together. Will his ṣalāh become fāsid because of this or the ṣalāh will be valid?

During ṣalāh if one recited verses 72 and 73 of sūrah Aḥzab pausing at the word wal-mushrikīn then restarting with wal-mushrikīn and continuously reciting and stopping at wal-mu’mināt, this will not cause the prayer to be fāsid (ruined) as there is no drastic change in the meaning of the verses. There is no need to repeat the prayer in this situation. However, such a pause is considered waqf qabīḥ (disapproved pause). – (See: Fatḥ Al-Qadīr, Vol 1, Page 324)
