Answered by Muftī Yūsuf Badāt
Question:
I have a few questions for Mathābah scholar, Muftī Yūsuf Badāt below. Please kindly clarify the following, as I have heard much gossip about your scholar:
- What is Muftī Yūsuf Badāt’s stance on the Qādiyānīs? Does he regard them as a sect of Islam? Does he legitimize and normalize the Qādiyānīs?
- Why has he interacted with Qādiyānīs and also appeared on their YouTube channel? What is his objective with such interactions, knowing well that they can be deceptive and cunning?
Answer:
Thank you/ Jazāk Allāh Khayr for reaching out to seek clarification on the matters.
My stance regarding the Aḥmadīyyas is with ijma’ā (consensus) of the muslim ummah. Qādiyānīs are considered non-muslims. They are a separate religion and cult, not part of Islam, as also declared by international muslim jurists as well. – (See: Resolution of The Council of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy, Jeddah[1], Qur’ān 33:40[2], Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 538[3], Aqīdah Al-Ṭaḥāwiyyah, Page 12, Dār Ibn Ḥazm[4])
I interact with people of all religions and faith leaders on various platforms, including the Qādiyānīs, to simply convey and share the true teachings of Islam, especially from a sunnī perspective. To date, with all praises to the Almighty, many of these interactions have resulted in several people embracing Islam, including 5 former Qādiyānīs. – (See: Qur’ān 4:125[5] and 60:8[6])
I am aware that some may disagree with my approach or methodology of teaching. I respect that and understand that every teacher, school, institute or individual may have their preferred styles of imparting knowledge. I am also aware that there are unique nuances and cautions that are to be adhered to, when dealing with certain communities including the Qādiyānīs.
After noting the above, it is vital to understand that every human being is to be respected on the basis of their humanity and humanness. Islam advocates peaceful coexistence, respectful interactions and intellectual dialogue, far from hate and violence. – (See: Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2599[7] and 961[8])
