Jazāk Allāh Khayr/ Thank you for your question.
Those wishing to adhere to Qur’ānic principles and prophetic teachings know that marriage is only permitted to certain individuals. As a general principle, the Qur’ān dictates that a Muslim woman can only marry a Muslim man.
“And do not give (your women) in marriage to polytheist men, unless they come to believe” (Qur’ān 2:221)
Regardless of what one labels themselves to be, if one sincerely believes in all the major tenants of Islam as outlined in the Qur’an and authentic Ḥadīth, they are considered a genuine Muslim.
Some of these tenants are listed below:

- Belief that Muḥammad (peace be upon him) is the final Messenger
- Belief in the angels
- Belief in all the genuine revealed books and scriptures
- Belief in all the Messengers and prophets of God
- Belief in life after death
- Belief in the Day of Judgement
- Belief in destiny decreed by Allāh
- Belief in the existence of Paradise & Hellfire
- Belief in the Ascension (Me’rāj) of the Prophet Muḥammad (peace be upon him)
- Belief in the existence of the Ḥawdh (pool)
- Belief in the Shafā’ah (intercession by the chosen ones)
- Belief in the existence of the Lawḥ (tablet) and the Qalam (pen)
- Belief in the existence of the ‘Arsh (throne)
- Belief in all the Companions of the Prophet and respecting all of them.
- Belief in the five pillars
- Belief in the Signs of the Day of Judgement
And Allāh Knows Best
