Reality (A Poem)

By Sarosh “Mohna” Zaidi

It is an open wind but a closed mind

It is a focus centered undefined

Your heart speaks the true desire

For its purpose is to smother the fire

The word modesty has been redefined

The truth of its light I cannot find

This new picture overtaking my mind

These clouds of lies have left me blind

I am taught to shave my beard

Because facial hair just seems too weird

What seems too far was always here

I keep getting further the more I get near

There is never a second chance

Either you stay or you advance

Either you end up very well

Or burn in the raging flames of hell

There are two paths and one is a fraud

Is it the world or is it God?

Allah’s expectation is not too much

But this world has spun its touch

The wise still keeps looks for lust

The past of the future is now a must

The media seems more pleasing than God

The best seeming deal is actually a fraud

Our ears light up when looks get loud

And modesty is left under the rainy cloud

There is never a second chance

Either you stay or you advance

Either you end up very well

Or burn in the raging flames of hell

There are two paths and one is a fraud

Is it the world or is it God?

What you seek will lead to no avail

Between God and world, there is no scale

For the world will someday befriend

And to Allah we must return in the end
